Becton Dickinson Corporation History ExhibitionImages from a traveling exhibition about the history of FDU sponsored by the Becton Dickinson Corporation, who was instrumental in the founding of Fairleigh Dickinson University. The exhibition was held in 2009, with a date given of May 8, 2009. Richard Kushnier was the curator. FDU Teaneck Student NewspapersA donated collection of student newspapers from 1956 to the present, with gaps. Includes newspapers from the Teaneck Campus, and a few from the Rutherford Campus. Newspapers were scanned as part of a project managed by Kathy Stein Smith, Director of Giovatto Library. Searching data is currently incomplete, and will be updated …
Bergen County Audubon ArchivesA collection of newsletters produced by the Bergen County Audubon Archives from 1950 to the present. Ephemeral mailings, lists of film screenings, and memos are also included from 1949 to the present. This is a partial collection of documents. FDU YearbooksThis will be a growing archive of FDU Yearbooks. Currently the 1964 yearbooks for Madison, Rutherford, and Teaneck are available in honor of their 50th anniversary in 2014.
FDU History CollectionA collection of photos and news clippings related to the Rutherford, Madison, and Teaneck/Hackensack campuses of Fairleigh Dickinson, from its earliest years in the 1940s as Fairleigh Dickinson College, through the 1980s. Includes scrapbooks kept by Mrs. Sally Sammartino, wife of FDU's first President. Scrapbook digitization is an ongoing project. Hackensack Meadowlands PapersMaps and documents digitized as part of a joint project with the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission. Materials are related to the history of the Meadowlands and the founding of the NJ Meadowlands Commission.
FDU Madison Student NewspapersBack issues of the Madison Campus newspaper, called The Bulletin, The Metropolitan, and The Pillar respectively. Currently the first 10 years (1961-1971) are available, and the project will be ongoing until all available back issues are posted. Twombly-Burden Accounting LedgersA collection of accounting ledgers belonging to the Twombly family when Florham was their home. Digitization and transcription of handwritten text was made possible by a grant from the Friends of Florham.
FDU North Jersey Heritage Center ArtifactsDatabase of artifacts held in the North Jersey Heritage Center archives, located at 10 Woodridge Avenue in Hackensack, New Jersey. Artifacts consist largely of FDU history memorabilia. Twombly Employee Record CardsA file of employee records kept on 3 x 5 index cards for the Twombly's. The employees listed worked on the Florham and Vinland estates. The original file cards were donated to the Florham Archives by Wendy Burden.
FDU Selected Masters ThesesA collection of selected theses related to special topics in the history of Northern New Jersey. Vanderbilt Twombly Estate CollectionMaterials that focus on the period when Florham was the country estate of Florence Vanderbilt and Hamilton Twombly. Currently includes some photographs of the Estate, and a finding aid for the Friends of Florham Archive at the Florham-Madison Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson.
FDU Staff and Faculty Publications and PresentationsA growing collection of articles, presentations, and podcasts from FDU faculty and staff. Most contributions are currently from library staff and faculty, though all FDU staff and faculty are welcome to use this space for their publications. William Saroyan ReviewsA collection of news clippings, including reviews, interviews, and announcements, for the works of William Saroyan, dating from approximately 1934 to 1981. The clippings are part of an archive purchased by Harry Keyishian, the Director of the FDU Press, and will be a component of a larger project on William Saroyan.
